Socially conscious at 9 years old
Dubai 2 July, 2011 – Cassandra Teulon, a 9-year-old Canadian girl wanted to make her 9th birthday a memorable occasion. She wanted to share the day with her passion and feelings for children with Autism. Her birthday party was a way of getting her friends involved, she surely enjoyed it but instead of getting presents she requested her friends to make donations to her chosen charity, Dubai Autism Center (DAC)
Cassandra has always been very sensitive towards special needs children and she was particularly inspired by her friend with Autism. Another friend's sibling with Autism (on DAC waiting list) also made their way into Cassandra's heart. These two friends have touched her in many ways and she was determined to make a difference in any way she could.
Raising funds for the center was just the first step in her journey towards making a difference. She visited the center to learn more about Autism and how she could contribute even further. She spent 3 hours playing and attending classes with the students at DAC, after which she said: “the children’s big smiles made me happy and makes me want to come again”. Her parents say that they are very proud of their special little girl.
At Dubai Autism Center everyone was touched by Cassandra’s initiative and we hope that the community takes notice of Cassandra's outlook and follows suite.
All the students at Dubai Autism Center wish to Thank Cassandra for her wonderful contribution to the center.
