DAC Buses: a modern technique of awareness

DAC Bus

Dubai – UAE: By the beginning of the academic year 2007 - 08, Dubai Autism Center's awareness program has been refreshed by a new awareness tool "Bus posters" to increase awareness about Autism and the center's services towards children with Autism and their parents among the general society.

"People notice moving objects when they are driving. Bus ads are eyecatching, unique and therefore memorable. There is no clutter or other advertising distractions, especially at traffic lights where cars get stuck right behind or beside ads for several minutes. Full wrap and tail wrap buses are so distinctive that people often remember them after one time viewing," Salim Khalfan, Public Relationships Officer for DAC said.

"Our efforts in awareness will be more noticeable this year, and all this will go a long way in helping us in our efforts providing specialist services for children with Autism, for their families, and for those who care of them." Khalfan added.

The Dubai Autism Centre (DAC) is a non-profit organization, relying on fund raising and donations. It was launched in November 2001 by a decree law from HH Sheikh Maktoum Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, with the aim of providing a better life for Autistic children in the UAE. It began as a resource centre for parents and professionals, providing essential recourses such as books and videos, as well as access to specialists on Autism.

Autism is a lifelong neurological developmental disorder. However, with proper treatment and education, the affliction can be managed to an extent that will allow the affected individuals to live full lives.
