Autism Trust Fund Gala Night
6th June 2010 :
Under the patronage of His Excellency Ahmed Humaid Al Tayer, Governor of Dubai International Financial Center, the Autism Trust Fund was launched on Monday 6th June followed by a Gala Dinner on Wednesday 8th June at Jumeirah Zabeel Saray- The Palm Jumeirah with many eminent guests present at the event.
2nd and 3rd June 2011:
The Dutch Painting Exhibition Auction, organized by 15 Dutch Artists, was held at Atlantis- The Palm Dubai.
The Artists were full of enthusiasm and were very passionate about Autism. Their zeal motivated others into raising funds for the center. The visitors were curious and eager to know more about Autism.
We are especially proud of our children’s talents with their art work being exhibited in a prime spot at the front of the hall. The paintings were impressive and grabbed the audience’s attention.
The Jebel Ali Golf Resort and Spa donation
January 13, 2011:
The Jebel Ali Golf Resort and Spa organized held a Charity Amateur Golf Tournament on January 13, 2011. The event was quite a success with various competitions and raffles with many members donating cash. Great job!
Turkish Women Association Visit
The International Children’s Day organized by the Turkish Women Association was an event not to be missed. The team headed by Mrs Gul Yalcin, wife of the Turkish Consulate General, worked very hard to get schools from different walks of life and raise much need funds for the center. The group visited the center to hand over the cheque and brought with them members of the Turkish business association.
For the first time, DAC organized a fund raiser premiere screening featuring the much awaited Twilight saga (NEW MOON). The Red carpet premier, in cooperation with Grand Cinema, was held on Tuesday the 24th of November, two days ahead of the official release in UAE.
The event was a great success as Twilight fans were excited and impatient to catch their first glimpse of the most sought after vampires
This event is in line with DAC's efforts to raise funds and reach out to different segments in the community. Raising the youth interest and curiosity about a noble cause will hopefully encourage them to get involved in social responsibility.
DP World Golf Championship
Dubai Autism Stand, provided by DP World, was strategically located and attracted a lot of visitors. Most importantly DAC was able to reach out to new families and Dubai Eye radio station highlighted the Autism cause on several occasions. DAC is always keen to participate in such events as it brings professionals, volunteers and the public closer and allows face to face encounters.
Our heart went for Ernie, a strong supporter of the Autism cause, who had a tough time!
Mr. Nasser Ibrahim’s walk from Abu Dhabi to Dubai aimed at spreading awareness about Autism and raise funds for the center. His endeavor has created the desired media hype and the Autism cause was brought again to the forefront. RAK Bank supported the initiative and provided the funds.
Nasser was in good spirits when DAC team joined him for the last few miles; all enjoyed the exercise but will remember to wear proper footwear for the next walk!
“No matter how old you are, there is a little child locked inside each one of us!”
We decided to put this famous say on trial and organized some outdoor and indoor activities under the theme Back to Childhood. It was really amazing to see our DAC members and professionals leaving their white coat, serious look and notepad to engage in the most hilarious and childish games: Obstacle race, lemon race, musical chair…just name it! It was a thrilling, fun and competitive event. A one-hour of non-stop laughing, running and screaming would best describe it.

A 10-day of Spreading Knowledge
The Center participated for the third consecutive year in Sharjah World Book Fair 2009 with new specialized titles about Autism and other social issues.
This Book Fair is an important event to all dedicated readers eager to acquire the latest Arabic and international books. It is also an excellent opportunity to introduce new titles on the latest development in the field of Autism.
Our dedicated volunteers have really put their heart and sole into this event!
The cooking event with Chef Ramzi was initiated by Ahmed Seddiqi and Sons. Twelve children from DAC along with their parents spent two delightful hours with the Chef.
The children prepared three different dishes and responded surprisingly well to Chef Ramzi’s calm yet demanding requests.
We are sure all the mums picked up a few cooking tips as well!
Employee of the first term 2009-2010
Going into his fourth year as an Accounts In Charge, Mr. Emson T.M has earned a reputation as one of DAC’s most highly regarded employees. Emson has consistently been a reliable and trustworthy employee and he is an exemplary employee who brings value to this organization far beyond the things suggested by his title. His peer to peer interaction and his high spirits within DAC is highly appreciated by the staff and Management. Mr. Mohammed Al Emadi, Director General of DAC presented the appreciation certificate and cash award.

The management is truly proud to select Ms. Lata as the Employee of the Year. Ms. Lata is an exceptional employee having served well over five years; Lata is a very well known, highly respected member of the staff today. Ms. Lata was already awarded Employee of the Term in the year 2008-2009. She is a great asset to DAC and her loyalty and dedication remains her unchanged character. Mr. Mohammed Al Emadi, Director General of DAC presented the appreciation certificate and Ms. Christina Bellos honored the precious gift to Ms. Lata on behalf of DAC.
Speech and communication unit celebrates the “Better Hearing & Speech Month
Under the directives of the board members and management of Dubai Autism Center, the speech unit conducted a number of activities during the month of May - the better speech and hearing month. The main purpose was to highlight the various programs used in speech and communication therapies. The unit provided Dubai Autism staff with general information on speech and language, the normal speech and language development in children and emphasized the communication difficulties faced by individuals affected with Autism. The unit also provided a brief summary on the Picture Exchange Communication System, “Makaton” sign language, Assistive Technology and Augmentative and Alternative Communication methods. The Cadre also conducted several specialized lectures for staff members and parents of children with Autism.

Staff Club Happy Hours
The DAC Staff Club initiative 'Happy Hours' was organized by the O T and Creative Unit on the 12th March 2009 at their premises. Happy Hours They planned a great day for the staff.
The program started with a competition for decorating the cup cakes. The staff had fun exploring their creative gene.
Dubai is all about its style and affluence, the OT and Creative Unit gave the entire staff a treat worthy of the place they live in by organizing a limousine ride around the town.
Everyone came back to walk the red carpet for the Oscar like 'DASCARS' ceremony followed by a hilarious video presentation ‘Caught by the Camera’ and ‘Behind the Scenes’.
Finally, the staff enjoyed a sumptuous meal and was given gifts to end a spirited day of fun, excitement and togetherness.
DAC first annual computer competition
Dubai Autism Center’s Occupational Therapy Unit has organized the first internal Computer Literacy Competition held on 27th Jan at the Center’s premises for 33 students have got certificates in addition to 17 prizes only for the winners.
Sarah Al Marzooqi, OT & Creative Unit Coordinator, said: “The idea of the competition was to give the students the opportunity to interact with their peers with some fun and to have a break from the regular day-to-day routine, it is the first step in holding such event, so in the future we could do it on a larger scale involving other centers,”
There was a separate art corner arranged with placed there to make sure students waiting for their turn were engaged in some fun activity.
Employee of the Term” award ceremony held on 16th February 2009
As a new endeavor of DAC staff club, Mr. Salim Khalfan was awarded “Employee of the Term” on 16th February 2009 within the center premises. The award consists of a cross pen with name engraved on it and a certificate of appreciation which was presented by Mr. Emadi, Director General of Dubai Autism Center.
His cheerful attitude and positive personality are well-known center-wide; he joined with DAC on 5-January-2003. He has shared his wonderful personality and dedication to his fellow employees every day since joining the DAC team. Mr. Salim is the first person whom the staff turns to when they have questions on any number of issues. He always makes himself available to help.”
Mr. Salim says he was ‘excited’ to win the award.
Happy Hours at Zabeel Park
The Education Unit at DAC hosted the first ‘Happy Hours’ event at The Zabeel Park on 15 February 2009. The day was filled with fun games, quizzes, and charades, which were aimed for the purpose of enhancing team spirit and togetherness, in a relaxed atmosphere.
Moreover, the staff thoroughly enjoyed the delicious multi-cultural cuisine brought by the members of the Education Unit. The day ended with an award ceremony where winners of the games were awarded with attractive gifts and prizes.
Each member of the staff was also presented with an eco-friendly jute bag, which illustrates that DAC supports the cause to save the planet.
Christina Bellos, Education Unit Head Teacher, said: “The purpose of The Staff Club is to create a positive and energetic environment and those who attended the event will totally agree that the aim was evidently achieved,”
DAC Celebrates National Day
In celebration of the UAE 37th National Day which falls in the 2nd December, Dubai Autism Center in collaboration with Dubai Cultural & Arts Authority and Dubai World ‘Leaders’ has held a festive event marked by local perspective of the UAE through a couple of activities.
A crowd of children, parents, staff, and volunteers were part of these activates which included a cultural exhibition contains traditional stuff such as food, drinks, clothes, perfumes and others.
Children were also involved in designing and painting flags, learning the traditional customs of the UAE and enjoying an outdoor event with their families.
Tennis Legends in a Visit to Dubai Autism Center
Dubai Autism Center has welcomed on Wednesday 19 November 2008, the famous tennis players: the current Stanford Champions, Sergi Bruguera (ESP), and Anders Jarryd (SWE), and representatives of Delwood Sport Marketing.The two players toured the Center’s various units and enjoyed playing tennis with the children in short matches on the Center’s playground. This visit was part of the prestigious "The Legends Rock Dubai" tennis event held during 19th – 22nd November 2008.
DAC participates in the Sharjah World Book Fair 2008
Dubai Autism Center exhibits a group of valuable books about Autism and the Center’s services, supplied by the international institutions of The National Autistic Society - UK, and The Great Plains Laboratory - US.
Mr. Al Emadi’s new book is one of the books that H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, has taken a few minutes to view and autograph.
Boney M concert to raise awareness for Dubai Autism Center
Boney M, the musical sensation that blazed across the pop charts in the 70's and 80's, is in Dubai for a charity concert in aid of the Dubai Autism Center.
The concert held on Monday 27th October 2008 seeks to raise awareness for Autism
One of the band's original members and lead singer, Marcia Barrett visited the Center to meet the children.
Speaking about why this concert was of immense personal importance, Ms Barrett said:
'I think it's important to be part of the community - not only where you live but wherever you think you can serve. To be able to do this Charity Concert for DAC is therefore an honor.The Dubai Autism Center is a wonderful school and the therapists here are doing such a great job. I hope the concert has helped in some way toward a very precious mission.'
